Rey Mysterio & Jeff Hardy vs. Finlay & Mr. Kennedy

The 17, 133 fans who packed into the sold out STAPLES Center witnessed an intense tag team match setting SmackDown’s Rey Mysterio & Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy against Finlay & Mr. Kennedy in a precursor to the Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match they will all be involved in on Nov. 18. Charging hard out of the gate, Mr. Kennedy brought the fight to Mysterio first. But once the bout began tilting back toward the high-flying duo, tension between Mr. Kennedy and Finlay began to mount. After a few anxious moments between the blond bruisers, the dangerous duo snapped back into the match.

But just when it seemed Mr. Kennedy & Finlay’s tenuous partnership had hit a stride, Mysterio elevated his game to new heights. The aerial amigo landed a 619 on Mr. Kennedy, kicking him back into the ring.

It wasn’t the place to be. As Mr. Kennedy lie on the mat, Hardy climbed the ropes and dropped a Swanton Bomb on the Green Bay, Wis. native to finish him off for the three-count.

If this intense match was a sample of what will happen at Survivor Series when the team of Triple H, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Rey Mysterio & Kane confronts the monstrous forces of Umaga, Mr. Kennedy, MVP, Finlay & Big Daddy V, then the 21st annual event promises to be an epic showdown.

Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy & Matt Hardy v. Finlay, MVP & Mr. Kennedy

Finlay grabbed a headlock but was quickly tossed to the ropes. Matt went for a hip toss but Finlay mauled him with a lariat and tagged in Kennedy.

Kennedy connected with some right hands before tagging in MVP who didn’t seem too excited about fighting his tag team partner. He tagged Kennedy in again and Kennedy went back o n the offence. Matt fought back briefly but Kennedy did his spastic thing again and began punching and booting Matt up against the ropes. Matt ducked under a clothesline attempt and took the upper hand with some arm drags.

We came back to Kennedy still pressing his advantage, hitting some boots to the back before laying in with a rear chin lock. Kennedy went for his Green Bay plunge, but Matt hit a take down and was able to wiggle to the corner and tag in Rey Rey.

Mysterio got Finlay and began tossing him around the ring with all sorts of flying nonsense, but Finlay kicked him in the face and that was that. Finlay tagged in MVP who quickly began laying the boots to the Willow look alike.

MVP is wearing a ‘C’ on his scuba gear. Glorious. MVP went for a cover and only got a two count before placing Mysterio in an abdominal stretch on the mat. Rey fought out with some knees to MVP’s face before the US Champion cut him off and tagged in Finlay.

Finlay hit a nasty looking back breaker before goading Jeff Hardy into the ring. Jeff briefly knocked him out of the ring but Finlay was able to recover, keep Rey in the ring and tag Kennedy.

Kennedy continued the back work Finlay started with a back breaker of his own before stretching Rey out on his thigh. Rey frantically fought back and wiggled out of the hold with some punches, but Kennedy caught him wiggling between his legs and dragged him to the friendly corner and tagged in MVP.

MVP laid in some shots before placing the former champion in a bear hug. MVP made the mistake of sending Mysterio into the ropes though, and Rey countered a back breaker into a DDT. Rey got the tag to Jeff Hardy who came in and cleaned house, taking down Mvp and knocking the other heels off the apron. Hardy connected with whisper in the wind, but Kennedy broke up the two count.

All hell broke loose and MVP and Kennedy found themselves in position for the619 which sent MVP careening on to his back. Jeff came soaring off the ropes with a swanton bomb and that’s all she wrote.

Jeff finally looked for some elbows to the gut, but got socked in the puss again with another big right hand before Umaga went right back to the hold. Umaga was in full control and began to diversify the portfolio so to speak, only to miss a charge and crash into the ring post. Hardy connected with a DDT and headed to the top rope only to get tossed off and eat a nice patch of the security wall.

We came back to Umaga mangling Jeff in the old vice grip again. Jeff fought back yet again and like a moron, went for a body slam. Jeff got him up, but ended up falling back under the weight and almost got pinned. Guess what’s next? Vice grip!

Umaga began planting some stiff old kicks to the chest before hitting a spinning wheel kick for another two count. Umaga beat Hardy with rights onto the ring apron, but Jeff was able to hang him up on the top rope.

Hardy took a gamble, looking for something off the top rope and got caught and ATE a tilt a whirl slam. Somehow, someway, Hardy kicked out at two. Umaga dropped his globe like backside across Hardy’s chest before going back to the well and the vice grip.

Hardy fought back again only this time, to eat a big boot to the grill. Umaga lined up a big splash but missed completely. Hardy HAD an opening, but Umaga picked him off again with an uppercut. Umaga went for the running ass but Hardy dodged it and hit a quick whisper in the wind, but couldn’t capitalize. He got a two count but it wasn’t good enough.

Hardy hit a series of forearms before going for the twist of fate but got kicked off. Hardy hit a mule kick and got out of the way of a big splash in the corner only for Umaga to move out of the way himself. Umaga hit a Samoan splash before signaling for the spike. Umaga missed the spike and Hardy hit a twist of fate. Umaga rolled to the outside and crashed into the table on the outside. As he turned around, Hardy came flying over the top with a splash.

Triple H & Jeff Hardy v. Umaga & Snitsky

Snitsky and Hardy started things off. Snitsky tossed Hardy aside like a baby before Hardy realized the whole strength thing sorta sucked for him so he tagged in Triple H. The two locked horns and struggled. Snitsky broke with a shoulder thrust but missed a follow up in the opposite corner and crashed into the ring post. Triple H yanked on the arm before tagging in Jeff who came flying off the top with an axe handle.

Jeff dumped Snitsky to the outside and hit him with a drop kick. He ducked out of the way of the oncoming Umaga who sailed over the top rope and to the floor. Hardy went for a cross body on both, but was caught easily. Triple H saw this all transpire of course, and elected to fling himself off the apron to give Hardy the weight advantage he needed. The faces were standing tall in the ring while the heels regrouped as we went to commercial.

We came back to Jeff Hardy desperately trying fight off Umaga who just picked him up and did his whirly bird side slam that left Hardy in pieces on the mat. Snitsky tagged in and hit a suplex for a near fall before gathering the tiny champ and grabbed a double under hook reverse full nelson thingy.

Snitsky missed a clothesline and Hardy hit a drop kick, dazing Snitsky. Snitsky cut off the hot tag but got duffed with a mule kick and the Game got the tag. Umaga received one himself and he and Triple H went at it. Triple H capped a big rally with a clothesline for a two count before hitting the face buster followed by a spine buster. He went for a pedigree, but Snitsky came roaring in with a clothesline attempt.

Triple H countered and went for a pedigree on Snitsky but got cut off by Umaga. Snitsky and Triple H brawled on the outside while Umaga was busy mauling Jeff Hardy. The Game pulled Hardy out of the way and Hardy hit a whisper in the wind. Triple H pounced and connected with a pedigree followed by a Jeff Hardy swanton bomb for the win. Fun ending sequence there.
