The Charismatic Enigma, born Aug. 31st 1977 in Cameron, North Carolina, changed the wrestling world with his innovative extreme matches, and wild personality.
Jeff Hardy had a desire for wrestling since childhood, Jeff's brother Matt and he used to put on their own wrestling shows in their basement and film them. As time went on they took their playing more seriously, and realized their dream. They set out to become professional wrestlers. They created O.M.E.G.A. with local friends and wrestlers. Jeff wrestled under many names, Jeff Hardy, Willow the Whisp, and Wolverine to name just a few. The Hardys were unknowns, but soon made a huge impression to the WWF and the entire wrestling world. The Hardys were soon teamed up with a manager, Michael Hayes. This is where the Hardys got their start. With Michael Hayes at ringside the Hardys became the WWF Tag Team Champions, winning their first major title in the WWF. Soon they split from Hayes and joined New Brood with Gangrel. They soon left the New Brood and became the high flying Hardys. They held the Tag Team Titles 5 times, and then split up. Jeff went on to win the Hardcore title, European title, and get a shot at the Undisputed Title. In 2003 Jeff was fired after being late and missing several shows. He was worn out and sick of the traveling and rough schedule. He spent some time off to relax and work on his art. He produced tons of beautiful paintings, many lovely poems which he calls his "emoetry", and he worked on his music with his band. Also he made several Indy appearances. In 2004 Jeff was contacted by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). Jeff and TNA worked out a deal and Jeff made an explosive debut as a mystery opponent to A.J. Styles. Jeff was clearly rejuvenated and ready to wrestle. Jeff soon signed a contract and became an official TNA Megastar. Jeff had a great run in TNA starting with his contract signing where he was promised a world title show, and although he failed to gain the gold, he preformed well above average. After his attempts at the world title Jeff went on to perform in a series of outstanding matches; from hardcore matches with the monster Abyss, to dream team tag matches with the phenomenal A.J. Styles, to the revolutionary Monster’s Ball match. He kept up his spree of incredible matches until an incident that put him on the bench for the rest of his TNA career. Hardy was scheduled to appear on a pre-show match for one of TNA’s 3 hour PPV’s. Due to what he claimed was bad weather conditions, he was unable to make the event. Due to his being late to several other events and missing his pre-show match, TNA decided to make an example out of Hardy and take him off Television. This would leave Hardy at home for several months till he made his return. On March 3rd, 2006 Jeff Hardy made his return to the ring, but not TNA television. Instead he showed up at a UHF show. UHF, a company run by NASCAR driver Hermie Sadler and the Hebner brothers who are partners with TNA Wrestling, brought a shock to the fans in Norfolk, Virginia, when during a match featuring Ron Killings, Kishi, Shannon Moore, and Bill Bain, a Energized Hardy ran down to the ring and attacked long time friend Shannon Moore. This attack led to an in-ring return the next night in FT. Lee, Virginia. The match was a No Disqualification match that shook the fans and made every cent they paid worth it. Jeff went on to participate in several more UWF events (available on DVD from highspots.com) where he fought such wrestlers as; A.J. Styles, Eric Young, Jeff Jarrett, and Maven. Also during this time he got to team with female superstar Amber O’Neal, and former tag team champion Kip James. But after a few months Jeff’s contract ran out and he decided not to resign because he had much bigger things in his sights. On August 4th, 2006 Jeff signed with World Wrestling Entertainment, this is over 3 years since he was fired from WWE in 2003. He said several times during interviews that he always wanted to be in the WWE and that it was his dream to wrestle on raw, and once again he had a chance to live that dream. His first match would be against his old friend, but more recent rival of his brother Matt, Edge. After several months of proving himself WWE gave him a chance he had been waiting for, a chance to face Intercontinental Champion Johnny Nitro for the gold. On October 2nd, 2006 Jeff fought a tough match with Nitro and came out on top, Jeff was proclaimed the Intercontinental Champion! He would hold this title for over a month before being cheated out of it. On November 6th, 2006 Jeff and Johnny Nitro fought once again for the title, this time things turned out different, and Nitro cheated Jeff out of his title, starting a fierce rivalry that would go on for the next few months. On February 19th, 2007, Jeff just missed the 3 month mark for holding his Title when Vince McMahon decided to teach Jeff and the rest of the world a lesson by putting his title on the line against the Samoan Bulldozer Umaga. After a short match Umaga walked away with Jeff’s title, but Jeff had no time to mourn the loss of his title, because he had much bigger things on the horizon. As Wrestlemania was approaching, the contestants for the annual Money in the Bank match were being decided. Fans were excited when they seen that Jeff would get his chance at the career changing match. On February 26th, 2007, Jeff fought Shelton Benjamin for the shot at the Money in the Bank at Wrestlemania, and due to the experience and skill off Jeff and the missed spots by Benjamin, Jeff came out on top of the match. But at Wrestlemania 22 Jeff was unable to get his hands on the briefcase with the contract for any title shot he wants. But that wouldn’t matter for long. Later in the year, Jeff and Matt feuded with Cade & Murdoch for several months. Cade & Murdoch claimed to promote good sportsmanship, but soon showed their true colors when they used dirty tactics to win the titles off the Hardys. After the Hardys lost their titles they both went their own ways. Matt returned to Smackdown while Jeff remained on Raw. Jeff soon got a shot to get his Intercontinental Title back. He won the title back off Umaga after some time off for unknown reasons. He has held it in matches against Shelton Benjamin and Mr. Kennedy.
